About TripStow

What is TripStow?
TripStow is a travel app that builds your trips from the booking emails you forward to it. Every trip also feeds a lifetime travel log: a scratch-off world map, flight stats, badges, and a Hangar of every plane you have flown on.
Is TripStow free?
Yes. TripStow's free plan has no time limit and includes forwarding bookings, trip building, the scratch-off map, stats, badges and importing your flight history. TripStow Pro costs £3.99 a month or £29.99 a year and adds live flight alerts, unlimited enhanced email scanning and more.
What does TripStow Pro add?
TripStow Pro adds unlimited enhanced (AI) email scanning, live gate, delay, cancellation and baggage belt alerts, the exact plane you are on by tail number, real times for every flight, your past year of flights filled in, planners who can edit your trips, cruise ports found for you, and reminders before your status or passport expires.
Is there a free trial of TripStow Pro?
Yes. Every TripStow account can try Pro free for 30 days, once, with no card needed. Afterwards the account returns to the free plan and keeps all its trips and stats.
Is there a TripStow app for iPhone and Android?
TripStow is a web app that you can add to your phone's home screen, where it opens full screen and can send push notifications (iPhone needs iOS 16.4 or later). There is no App Store or Google Play version yet.

Forwarding emails

How does forwarding emails to TripStow work?
Every TripStow account has a private forwarding address. Forward a booking confirmation to it, or set up an automatic forwarding rule in Gmail or Outlook, and TripStow reads the email and adds each flight, hotel, train or cruise to the right trip in local time. You get an email back saying what was added.
Which booking sites and airlines work with TripStow?
TripStow reads confirmation emails from airlines, hotels, rail operators, ferry and car hire companies, cruise lines, booking sites and travel agents, rather than working from a fixed list of supported sites. It also reads attached PDF tickets, calendar invites (.ics) and wallet passes (.pkpass). Screenshots and other image attachments are not read yet.
Does TripStow read my inbox?
No. TripStow never connects to your email account. It only sees the emails you choose to forward to your TripStow address or to plans@tripstow.com.
What is enhanced trip email scanning?
Enhanced trip email scanning is TripStow's AI reading of a forwarded email, done by Anthropic's Claude models. Standard scanning is TripStow's rules-based reader. Free accounts use standard scanning first, with up to 10 enhanced scans a month when the standard reader is unsure; Pro uses enhanced scanning on every email.
What happens when a flight changes or is cancelled?
Forward the change or cancellation email to TripStow and it updates the plan you already have, rather than adding a second one. With TripStow Pro, live flight data also alerts you to delays, gate changes and cancellations as they happen.

Cruises, trains and other travel

Does TripStow work for cruises?
Yes. TripStow reads cruise confirmations, and its Dock keeps every ship you have sailed on, with nights at sea and ports of call. Cruises count on your scratch-off map. With Pro, TripStow looks up every port of call from the ship and dates.
Does TripStow work for trains?
Yes. TripStow reads rail booking emails and you can add a train by hand. Train journeys appear in your trips and count on your map as overland travel.

Flight stats and punctuality

Where do TripStow's on-time figures come from?
TripStow's public on-time figures come from two sources, labelled on every page: US Department of Transportation on-time data (Bureau of Transportation Statistics, public domain) for US airlines' domestic flights over the last 12 published months, and anonymised past flights logged by TripStow travellers, shown only once at least 3 different travellers have flown a flight and only from flights at least a week old. Live flight data bought for Pro alerts is never used in public figures.
What counts as an on-time flight?
TripStow counts a flight as on time if it arrives within 15 minutes of its scheduled arrival time. This is the US Department of Transportation definition, used on all of TripStow's flight, route and airport pages and in its monthly punctuality reports.
How do I check if a flight is usually on time?
Search the flight number, route or airport on TripStow's free flight stats pages at tripstow.com/flights. Each flight page shows its on-time share, average arrival delay, cancellations, routes and aircraft, with the period and source of the figures. No account is needed.
How accurate are TripStow's travel stats?
TripStow measures distances airport to airport along the shortest path over the Earth's surface (great-circle distance), so they can differ slightly from airline miles. Duplicate flights are merged so each flight counts once. CO2 is an estimate using standard per-kilometre bands by haul length and cabin.

Privacy and your data

Is my travel data private on TripStow?
Yes. Your trips are visible only to you and anyone you share them with. Future trips are never public. Public profiles, leaderboards and share cards show past travel only, and only if you switch them on. Loyalty numbers are encrypted and masked.
Can I share my trips with a partner?
Yes. On TripStow you can add a travel partner by email and choose whether they see one trip or all of them. Partners never see your stats, Wallet, documents or emails. With Pro, you can also add planners, such as a PA, who can add and change plans on shared trips.
How long does TripStow keep my forwarded emails?
TripStow deletes the text of each forwarded email automatically 30 days after it arrives. The plans it created stay in your trips, and your inbox still shows the email's subject, sender and what it added. Attachments are read for booking details; the files are not kept, and their text is deleted with the email.
How do I delete my TripStow data?
In TripStow's Settings you can delete all your trips, plans, imports and forwarded emails while keeping your account, or delete your account and everything in it. You can also export everything as a CSV file first.
Does TripStow store my passport number?
No. For travel documents such as passports, TripStow stores only the expiry date and the last four characters, so Pro can warn you before a passport runs out. Loyalty programme numbers are stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and masked.
