Using Wanderlog? Keep every trip in your travel record too
The short answer: you do not have to choose. Wanderlog is built for planning a trip before you go, together, on a map. TripStow is built for what comes after you book: your confirmations organised into trips, and every trip added to a lifetime record of where you have been. Forward each booking to both and you get both, with no extra typing.
What each one is for
- Wanderlog: a shared day-by-day plan and map that a group can edit together, with places to visit, budgets and reservations in one view. Wanderlog on the App Store
- TripStow: trips built from your booking emails, then a travel record that keeps growing: distance, hours and airports flown, a scratch-off map of countries, lifetime stats and badges, and a Hangar of every plane you have been on. TripStow Pro adds live flight alerts for delays, gate changes and cancellations.
Send each booking to both, once
Wanderlog gives each trip its own forwarding address. Wanderlog help: forwarding reservations TripStow gives you one private address for all your trips, on the Add page after you sign in.
When a confirmation arrives, forward it once with both addresses in the To line. Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail all accept more than one recipient on a forward. That is it:
- Wanderlog adds the flight or hotel to the trip you are planning.
- TripStow files it into the right trip, in local times, and adds it to your travel record once the trip is over.
Or let TripStow catch everything automatically
Because TripStow uses one address for every trip, you can set it up once and forget it: a forwarding rule in Gmail or Outlook that sends booking confirmations to TripStow as they arrive. The guide to forwarding your bookings walks through it. You then only forward to Wanderlog for the trips you are planning there. Wanderlog Pro can also scan a linked Gmail account for reservations. Bring your past trips too
A travel record is most satisfying when it goes back years. If you have kept a flight log in LogMyFlight, myFlightradar24 or OpenFlights, import the file into TripStow and every past flight counts at once. Not sure what the file holds? The free flight log stats tool reads it in your browser first, without uploading it. Coming from TripIt? See how to export your TripIt data.
After the trip
This is where the two differ most. Once a trip is over, TripStow reveals its countries on your map, adds the distance and flights to your stats and the planes to your Hangar, and can make a share card of the trip or your year. Your Wanderlog plan stays as it was, ready to share as a guide.
